Psygnosis' ambitious new title blurs the line between combat and strategy games. Atlanta, GA - May 28, 1998 - Setting new graphical and game-play standards, Tellurian Defenseā„¢ offers you the excitement of intense flight combat combined with the challenge of strategic warfare as you defend Earth from alien attacks. Tellurian Defense features a variety of multiplayer options including modem-to-modem and up to 16 players within a LAN. The title is expected Q4 1998. The game is set in the early 21st century when Earth is recovering from an environmental apocalypse caused by an asteroid belt showering down a storm of meteorites onto the planet surface. This new Earth, where water levels have risen, tornadoes and electrical storms wreak havoc daily and cities have been obliterated, is depicted in huge graphically elaborate 3D environments. Landscape for each level extends over 16,000 km square yet detailed post-environmental disaster landmarks are present by which you can navigate your craft. 'Living' environments are included with cinematic real-time effects in refined detail. Fly over the new landscape or take your craft underwater down New York's 5th Avenue! The planet rebuild is nearing completion when suddenly you're under attack again! Tellurian Defense begins as the Earth Defense Organization discovers that it is fighting an alien race, which swarms the stratosphere. It has already destroyed most of the remaining communication satellites and military bases and is beginning to abduct civilians. You are recruited as a member of a small squadron of fighters whose strength, agility and tactical ability will be key to saving Earth. Tellurian Defense offers over thirty missions; each within a different location over Earth. Strategic elements such as resource management and allocation and genetic engineering enable sophisticated control of weapon manufacture, craft upgrade, and wingman genetics. The missions have been scripted by Morgan Gendel, famed as writer of 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' and 'Deep Space Nine' and vary from pure combat to undercover reconnaissance.
